The Government of Aragón has taken decisive action following serious allegations of abuse at the Ateca children's center.

Five employees, including the director, have been arrested for torturing and sexually assaulting minors.

In response, Social Welfare and Family Minister Carmen Susín announced the termination of contracts with the managing organizations and the initiation of an internal audit of similar facilities.

Susín acknowledged failures in communication and oversight, stating that any prior incidents should have been reported.

The center, which housed troubled youth, has been closed, and an investigation is underway to determine if there were previous complaints about the facility.

Families of the affected children are demanding justice and accountability from the authorities involved.
