The request was rejected by the ruling parties, PSC and ERC, who maintain that the investiture will proceed.

Puigdemont's absence and the police operation to detain him have intensified tensions, with Junts accusing the government of a disproportionate response.

Meanwhile, the government insists that Illa's investiture is unstoppable, even in the face of Puigdemont's potential arrest, which they believe would only delay the process by a few days.
