Madrid's railway services faced significant disruptions due to two separate incidents.
Initially, a train derailment occurred during a maneuver between Chamartín and Atocha stations, affecting high-speed rail traffic to eastern Spain.
Fortunately, the train was empty, and the driver was unharmed.
This incident led to the rerouting of trains to Puerta de Atocha, where passengers were transferred to shuttle services.
Later, a separate incident at Atocha station involved an unauthorized individual threatening to jump onto the tracks, prompting a complete halt of services, including AVE, Avlo, Avant, and several Cercanías lines.
Emergency protocols were activated, and the individual was eventually detained, allowing services to gradually resume.
