Controversy Surrounds Begoña Gómez's Cancelled Master's

Published: 2024-10-08

The Universidad Complutense de Madrid has cancelled a master's program directed by Begoña Gómez, wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, citing low enrollment numbers.

While Gómez claims there were 50 pre-registrations, the university states only four students were officially enrolled.

This decision comes amidst an ongoing investigation into Gómez for alleged influence peddling and corruption, linked to her roles at the university.

Despite the controversy, Gómez recently appeared at an event promoting another master's program on fundraising for NGOs, emphasizing the importance of transparency and youth engagement.

The investigation, initiated by the "Manos Limpias" union, continues to scrutinize her connections with sponsors like Fundación La Caixa and Reale Seguros, which funded her previous programs.
