The legal battle involving Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and his wife, Begoña Gómez, has taken a significant turn.
The Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) has unanimously rejected Sánchez's lawsuit against Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who had summoned him to testify in person in a case involving Gómez.
The court found no grounds for the accusation of judicial misconduct against Peinado, despite the State Attorney's support for the lawsuit.
The court emphasized that the decision to summon Sánchez was justified, as it pertained to his role as Gómez's husband, not as Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the public prosecutor has also opposed Gómez's separate lawsuit against Peinado, citing a lack of evidence for her claims of misconduct and breach of confidentiality.
The TSJM's decision can be appealed, but it marks a setback for Sánchez and Gómez in their legal efforts against the judge.
