Desperate Search Amid Albufera's Devastation

Published: 2024-11-06

The aftermath of the catastrophic flood on October 29 has left a trail of destruction across Valencia, with the Albufera Natural Park becoming a focal point for search efforts.

The floodwaters have claimed at least 215 lives, with debris stretching 75 kilometers along the coast.

The Guardia Civil's Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) is tirelessly searching the murky waters of Albufera, aided by drones and local fishermen, yet no bodies have been found.

The search is hampered by high water levels, which need to drop significantly to improve conditions.

Meanwhile, the environmental impact on the Albufera, a vital wetland, remains uncertain, with concerns over contamination and the loss of local wildlife.

Authorities continue to prioritize the search for the missing, as the community grapples with the disaster's aftermath.
