On November 25th, cities across Spain, including Madrid, Sevilla, and Valladolid, marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with dual marches, highlighting a growing division within the feminist movement.
In Madrid, two separate marches were organized by the Foro de Madrid and the Comisión 8M, both starting at 19:00 from different locations.
This division reflects ongoing debates within the movement, particularly around issues like the incorporation of gender identity agendas and differing stances on prostitution.
Despite these differences, the marches united under the common goal of eradicating violence against women, a pressing issue underscored by recent tragic events, such as the murder of María in Sevilla.
The day serves as a reminder of the urgent need to address all forms of violence against women, as emphasized by the slogans of both marches.
