Spain is experiencing its first major heat wave of the summer, with temperatures soaring to dangerous levels.
The Valencian Community is particularly affected, with the weather agency AEMET issuing its first red alert of the season for Valencia province.
Temperatures could reach up to 44°C (111°F) in some areas.
The extreme heat has also raised wildfire risks to critical levels in parts of Valencia, Castellón, and Alicante provinces.
Authorities have banned all types of fires in these high-risk areas.
While the heat wave is expected to peak on Saturday, it will begin to subside on Sunday as Atlantic air moves in from the west, bringing relief to much of the peninsula.
