A devastating fire broke out in a three-story wooden building in Basauri, Vizcaya, on Friday evening, leading to the tragic death of a man who jumped from the third floor to escape the flames.

Despite efforts by emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries.

Firefighters rescued four others, including a woman and her two children, who escaped unharmed.

The blaze, which started on the ground floor around 5:10 PM, quickly spread to the roof due to the building's wooden structure.

Emergency services evacuated 24 residents, and local authorities are working to provide temporary housing for those displaced.

The fire was brought under control by 7 PM, but its cause remains under investigation.
