Judge Expands Probe on Begoña Gómez

Published: 2024-10-29

Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has expanded the investigation into Begoña Gómez, wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, adding charges of misappropriation and professional intrusion.

Previously, Gómez was under investigation for influence peddling and corruption.

The new charges relate to the alleged misappropriation of a software platform from the Complutense University of Madrid, which Gómez allegedly registered under her company.

Despite the allegations, no evidence of wrongdoing has been found so far.

Gómez is scheduled to appear in court on November 18 to address these charges.

The case has drawn significant attention due to Gómez's high-profile connections and the involvement of major companies like Indra, Telefónica, and Google in the software's development.
