In response to escalating violence involving organized crime and the use of military-grade weapons, the Spanish police union JUPOL has called for the deployment of armored vehicles in cities with populations over 250,000. This request follows a recent incident in the Tres Mil Viviendas neighborhood of Seville, where gunfire erupted, involving automatic weapons.
JUPOL argues that the current resources are insufficient to handle such high-risk situations, emphasizing the need for enhanced protective gear, including ceramic plates for bulletproof vests and ballistic shields.
The union stresses that these measures are crucial for the safety of both officers and the public, as organized crime continues to pose significant threats across the country.
