Madrid Court Closes Neurona Case

Published: 2024-10-12

The Madrid Provincial Court has definitively closed the Neurona case, dismissing Vox's appeal against the decision to archive the investigation into Podemos.

The case, which lasted over three years, centered on alleged misappropriation of electoral funds by Podemos through a contract with the Mexican consultancy Neurona for the 2019 general elections.

The court confirmed that the contract price was below market value, supporting the final report that was crucial to the case.

The investigation, initiated in 2020 following a complaint by former Podemos lawyer José Manuel Calvente, was marked by multiple lines of inquiry, all of which were eventually dismissed.

Podemos, maintaining its innocence throughout, celebrated the closure, criticizing the judicial process as a form of 'lawfare' and lamenting the reputational damage caused.

The court's decision underscores the absence of any criminal conduct in the dealings between Podemos and Neurona.
