Residents of Campamento and Aluche are set to protest again this Sunday against the planned A-5 tunnel project in Madrid, which they claim is 700 meters shorter than initially promised.
The project, announced by Madrid's Urban Planning delegate Borja Carabante, aims to cover the A-5 highway to reduce traffic and pollution, but locals argue it excludes 10,000 residents from its benefits.
The tunnel, part of the Paseo Verde del Suroeste initiative, is expected to be completed by 2026, creating a green urban landscape.
However, residents are concerned about ongoing high levels of pollution and noise, with nitrogen dioxide levels significantly exceeding legal limits.
The city plans to mitigate traffic disruptions with alternative public transport options during the construction period.
