Spain's Vice President María Jesús Montero has firmly denied that the recent agreement between the PSC and ERC for Catalonia's governance equates to an economic deal similar to those of the Basque Country or Navarra.

Montero emphasized that the agreement is not a "concierto económico" but rather a unique financial arrangement aimed at enhancing Catalonia's fiscal autonomy while maintaining solidarity across Spain.

The deal allows Catalonia to manage its tax revenues, sparking concerns among other regions about potential impacts on national solidarity and resource distribution.

Montero reassured that the agreement would benefit the entire country, including regions like Andalusia, and criticized the opposition for using Catalonia as a political tool.

Despite internal and external criticisms, Montero insists that the agreement aligns with Spain's broader goals of federalization and equal public service provision.
