PP Widens Lead Over PSOE in Spain

Published: 2024-10-07

The Popular Party (PP) has significantly increased its lead over the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in recent voter intention polls.

According to the latest survey by the 40dB institute for EL PAÍS and Cadena SER, the PP now holds a nearly five-point advantage over the PSOE.

This marks a notable shift from the general elections on July 23, 2023, where the gap was just 1.4 points.

The PP, along with Vox and Se Acabó La Fiesta (SALF), collectively garners 50% of the vote, while the PSOE, Sumar, and Podemos trail with 38.5%.

Sumar, led by Vice President Yolanda Díaz, has seen a dramatic drop, losing half of its support since the July elections.

Meanwhile, the PSOE continues to face challenges, with its voter retention dropping to 73.8%, as some supporters shift to the PP or remain undecided.

The political landscape in Spain remains dynamic, with the PP maintaining strong voter loyalty and expanding its influence across various regions.
