Carles Puigdemont, the former President of Catalonia, has reiterated his stance on returning to Spain only when the Amnesty Law is applied to him.
In a recent article on 'Politico', Puigdemont emphasized that his brief return to Catalonia was not to be arrested but to resist what he perceives as judicial oppression.
He criticized the Spanish Supreme Court for not applying the Amnesty Law, which he argues undermines democratic laws passed by the government.
Puigdemont described his escape from Catalonia as a strategic move to avoid illegal arrest, highlighting the personal risk he took to draw attention to systemic issues within the Spanish judiciary.
He also condemned the police operation during his visit, comparing it to anti-terrorist measures, and expressed frustration over the court's refusal to grant amnesty for charges related to the Catalan independence referendum.
Despite the challenges, Puigdemont remains hopeful that justice will eventually prevail, allowing him to return permanently.
