Juan Luis Cepa, a former socialist lawmaker from Castilla y León, is under investigation for alleged sexual assault on a minor.
The investigation, led by the regional High Court of Justice, began after the parents of a 13-year-old reported the incident.
Cepa, who met the minor through the Grindr app, has resigned from all his political positions, citing personal reasons.
This resignation means the case will return to the local court in Ciudad Rodrigo, where it initially started.
Cepa maintains his innocence, claiming the interaction was limited to conversations and that he believed the minor was over 18. The Socialist Party requested his resignation after learning about the investigation, which Cepa complied with despite his lawyer's advice.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about age verification on dating apps like Grindr.
