Spain is experiencing its first major heatwave of the summer, with temperatures expected to soar above 40°C (104°F) in many areas.
The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued warnings for most of the country, excluding the northwest and Cantabrian regions.
The heatwave is predicted to last from Thursday to Saturday, with Friday being the peak day.
Temperatures could reach up to 44°C (111°F) in some southern areas.
This extreme weather is caused by a mass of hot air from Africa, bringing not only high temperatures but also dust from the Sahara.
Health authorities advise staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest hours, and paying special attention to vulnerable groups.
