Spain Faces Extreme Weather Alerts

Published: 2024-07-29

Spain is bracing for a challenging week of extreme weather as a DANA (depression at high levels of the atmosphere) brings high temperatures, dust storms, and heavy rainfall across the country.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued yellow and orange alerts for all autonomous communities, warning of maximum temperatures reaching up to 40°C in some areas.

The DANA is expected to cause significant cloud cover and thunderstorms, particularly in the northwest and central regions.

Additionally, the influx of dust from North Africa will worsen air quality, posing health risks for those with respiratory issues.

As the week progresses, temperatures will fluctuate, with some regions experiencing a drop while others remain unseasonably warm.

Residents are advised to stay informed and take precautions against the heat and potential storms.
