Spain Faces Severe Heatwave This Weekend

Published: 2024-08-08

Spain is bracing for a severe heatwave, with temperatures expected to soar above 40 degrees Celsius across much of the country this weekend.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued warnings for ten autonomous communities, including regions like Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Catalonia.

This marks the fourth heatwave of the summer, with the hottest day anticipated on Saturday, August 10. Cities such as Córdoba, Granada, and Badajoz could see temperatures reaching up to 42 degrees.

The heat is exacerbated by a stable atmospheric situation and warm air masses lingering over the Iberian Peninsula.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours to mitigate health risks.
