The Spanish government is set to evacuate around 500 citizens from Lebanon due to escalating violence in the region.
This decision follows the recent intensification of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which has led to increased instability.
Spain's Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, announced that two military aircraft will be dispatched to Beirut, with the possibility of a third, to facilitate the evacuation.
The operation is prepared to ensure the safety of Spanish nationals, similar to past evacuations in conflict zones like Afghanistan and Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Spanish military presence in Lebanon, part of the UN peacekeeping mission, will remain, as their role is deemed crucial for regional stability.
The Spanish government has also condemned recent attacks and called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation.
