Spain's job market continues to show positive trends, with 434,700 new jobs created in the second quarter of 2024, bringing the total number of employed individuals to nearly 21.7 million, a record high.
The unemployment rate has dropped to 11.27%, the lowest since 2008, although this represents a slower decline compared to previous years.
The service sector, particularly hospitality, has been a significant contributor to job growth, while the private sector accounted for over 98% of new positions.
Despite these gains, challenges remain, including a substantial number of households with no income.
The increase in the active population, now at 24.4 million, indicates a growing confidence in the labor market, even as Spain's unemployment rate remains higher than the EU average.
