The Spanish Supreme Court has dismissed the terrorism investigation against former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont and ERC deputy Ruben Wagensberg in the 'Tsunami Democràtic' case.
This decision follows the National Court's ruling that invalidated the last three years of the investigation due to a procedural error.
Supreme Court judge Susana Polo cited the lack of substantial evidence gathered before July 29, 2021, as the reason for the dismissal.
The case, which began in 2019, investigated protests following the Catalan independence referendum verdict.
While this decision clears Puigdemont of terrorism charges, he still faces other legal challenges, including a pending arrest warrant for embezzlement charges related to the Catalan independence process.
