A tragic incident unfolded off the coast of El Hierro, Canary Islands, as a migrant boat carrying 84 individuals capsized during a rescue operation.

The vessel, which had set sail from Nouadhibou, Mauritania, was caught in adverse weather conditions, leading to panic among the passengers.

As a result, the boat overturned, resulting in the death of at least nine people, including a young boy, while 48 remain missing.

Rescue teams have managed to save 27 survivors, who are now receiving medical attention.
