Two Basque climbers, aged 26 and 27, tragically lost their lives on Wednesday while descending Mont Blanc du Tacul in the French Alps.
The accident occurred in the early afternoon as the climbers were rappelling down the Gervasutti Couloir, a popular climbing route.
Reports indicate that their rope became untangled, causing them to fall approximately 100 meters.
A third climber, also from the Basque region, survived the incident but is deeply affected.
The French authorities have recovered the bodies and transported them to Chamonix.
This incident highlights the increasing dangers posed by seracs, large ice blocks that can fracture and cause accidents in the area.
