Train Delays Hit Madrid's Chamartín Station

Published: 2024-07-23

A technical failure involving a pantograph on a train at Madrid's Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station has caused significant delays for high-speed trains arriving and departing from the station.

The incident, reported by Adif around 2:50 PM, led to the suspension of services on track 20, affecting multiple trains, including an Avant service to Valladolid that was delayed by 41 minutes.

Other trains, such as the AVE from Vinarós to Gijón, experienced delays of up to 120 minutes due to additional technical issues.

Passengers have expressed frustration over the lack of information and the chaotic situation, prompting criticism from political figures, including the Popular Party's spokesperson in the Senate, Alicia García, who called for immediate explanations from the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente.

Renfe and Adif are working to resolve the issues and have been providing updates to travelers through various communication channels.
