Valencia's Towns Struggle After Devastating Floods

Published: 2024-11-02

The towns of Chiva and Paiporta in Valencia are grappling with the aftermath of catastrophic floods caused by a recent storm.

Chiva, with nearly 17,000 residents, has been left without electricity, water, or communication since Tuesday, as the storm dumped 420 liters of rain per square meter.

The town is isolated, with at least 10 confirmed deaths and many more feared missing.

Residents are desperate for food and water, with local authorities overwhelmed by the scale of the disaster.

Meanwhile, in Paiporta, 62 people have died, and volunteers are working tirelessly to clear mud and debris.

The community is in dire need of basic supplies and medical assistance.

Both towns are calling for urgent help as they face a long road to recovery.
