The Venezuelan government has expelled a delegation from Spain's Popular Party (PP) that aimed to observe the upcoming presidential elections.
The group, which included ten members, was detained at Caracas airport and denied entry into the country.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the leader of the PP, demanded their immediate release, stating that the regime's actions reflect its fear of democratic movements in Venezuela.
Meanwhile, former Latin American presidents, including Mireya Moscoso of Panama and Vicente Fox of Mexico, also faced travel restrictions, as their flight was halted in Panama.
The situation highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the elections, with accusations of electoral manipulation and repression against the Maduro regime.
