Begoña Gómez Faces Political Inquiry

Begoña Gómez, wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, recently faced a commission in the Madrid Assembly regarding alleged preferential treatment from the Complutense University.

Gómez, who has been accused of corruption and influence peddling, chose to remain silent during the session, citing political motives behind the inquiry.

The commission, led by the PP and Vox, questioned her role in directing a university chair without formal qualifications.

Despite the allegations, the university's rector, Joaquín Goyache, defended the legality of Gómez's appointment, stating there was no undue influence from Sánchez.

The investigation has sparked political tensions, with some viewing it as a targeted attack on Sánchez and his party.
