Begoña Gómez, wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, has testified for the first time in a corruption case against her.

Accused of influence peddling, misappropriation, and other charges, Gómez denied all allegations during her appearance before Judge Juan Carlos Peinado.

She stated that her actions regarding a software project with the Complutense University of Madrid were fully transparent and approved by the institution.

Gómez also refuted claims of favoritism in public contracts, asserting she had no involvement in such processes.

Her lawyer emphasized that Gómez had no financial motives and followed university guidelines.

Critics, including the group Hazte Oír, questioned her decision to only answer her lawyer's questions.

The investigation continues amidst political and public scrutiny.
