Begoña Gómez, wife of Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, is embroiled in a legal battle over allegations of misappropriation and professional misconduct related to a software project at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Her defense, led by lawyer Antonio Camacho, has submitted evidence to the court, including emails, to demonstrate that Gómez acted under the university's instructions.
The case, initiated by a complaint from the ultraconservative group Hazte Oír, has led to an expanded investigation by Judge Juan Carlos Peinado.
Gómez's legal team is requesting the testimony of several university officials to clarify the procedures followed in the software's development and the registration of its domain.
The defense argues that Gómez's actions were in line with university protocols and that the software's name was her original idea, proposed to the university.
