Court Backs Young Woman's Euthanasia

A Barcelona court has ruled in favor of Noelia, a 24-year-old paraplegic woman seeking euthanasia, rejecting her father's legal challenge.

Noelia, who suffers from chronic, debilitating pain after a traumatic injury, had her euthanasia request approved in 2024 under Spain's euthanasia law.

Her father, represented by Abogados Cristianos, argued she lacked the mental capacity to make this decision.

However, the court found Noelia fully capable of deciding her fate, supported by medical and legal experts.

The judge emphasized that the right to life and death is personal and cannot be transferred, dismissing the father's claim.

While the ruling is a significant step, the decision can still be appealed, leaving Noelia's case unresolved.
