Spain's Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, is under fire as he defends his actions amidst a Supreme Court investigation.
Accused of leaking sensitive information, García Ortiz justified deleting his phone data and Gmail account, citing legal rights to privacy.
Facing harsh criticism from opposition parties, he argued that resigning would weaken the institution he represents.
García Ortiz described his situation as "uncomfortable" but maintained his commitment to impartiality and the rule of law.
The opposition, however, has called for his resignation, accusing him of undermining democratic norms.
Despite the controversy, García Ortiz insists he is protecting the integrity of the justice system.
