The General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has launched an investigation into National Court judge Eloy Velasco following his controversial remarks about former Equality Minister Irene Montero.
During a conference, Velasco criticized Montero and referred to her past job as a supermarket cashier, sparking accusations of sexism and classism.
The CGPJ's disciplinary promoter, Ricardo Conde, will determine if Velasco's comments warrant formal disciplinary action.
Montero responded on social media, urging Velasco to comply with laws and study gender violence issues.
This case follows another investigation into Judge Manuel Ruiz de Lara for alleged insults against government officials, highlighting growing tensions between the judiciary and political figures.
