In a significant development, the Spanish judiciary has summoned Juan Lobato, the Secretary General of the PSOE in Madrid, as a witness in an ongoing investigation involving the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz.
The investigation centers around the alleged leak of confidential emails related to Alberto González Amador, who is implicated in tax offenses.
Lobato is required to present a notarized record of his communications with Moncloa, following claims that he received sensitive information from the government, which he asserts was already public through media outlets.
This summons follows a report by ABC, which suggests that Moncloa was involved in the leak, aiming to implicate Lobato.
The case has sparked political tensions, with the opposition demanding the resignation of García Ortiz, accusing him of orchestrating a campaign against the partner of regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
The judiciary, however, has declined to suspend García Ortiz from his duties, citing the need for proportionality in precautionary measures.
