Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has called for a unified European approach to defense spending and security during a summit in Paris.

The meeting, convened by French President Emmanuel Macron, focused on strategies for peace in Ukraine amidst shifting U.

S. policies under Donald Trump.

Sánchez emphasized the need for a "just and durable" peace, involving both Ukraine and the EU, and warned against repeating past mistakes in negotiations with Russia.

He also advocated for flexible fiscal rules to boost defense budgets and proposed shared European funding mechanisms.

Sánchez plans to visit Kyiv to reaffirm Spain's support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski, stressing that peace must strengthen international law and EU unity.
