Sánchez Rallies Progressives Against Right-Wing Surge

Published: 2024-11-26

In a spirited address at the UGT Congress in Barcelona, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez rallied progressives to remain steadfast against the rising influence of the right-wing parties, PP and Vox.

Despite recent polls suggesting a potential majority for these parties, Sánchez expressed confidence in the coalition government's achievements and its ability to win the 2027 elections.

He emphasized the importance of social reforms, such as labor law changes and pension increases, and urged the left to take pride in these accomplishments.

Sánchez criticized the right for relying on misinformation and pledged to continue fighting for progressive values, including women's rights and democratic legality.

The Prime Minister also called for renewed negotiations with business leaders to implement a reduced workweek, highlighting the government's commitment to social justice and environmental responsibility.
