Spain Mobilizes Crisis Response for DANA Storm

Published: 2024-10-30

The Spanish government has established a crisis committee to address the severe weather conditions caused by the DANA storm affecting the Mediterranean coast and Albacete.

The committee, led by Vice President María Jesús Montero, convened at the National Security Department in La Moncloa to coordinate response efforts.

Ministers from various departments, including Defense and Interior, participated in the meeting, with remote contributions from other officials.

The committee is in constant communication with regional leaders and has mobilized resources from the UME, National Police, Civil Protection, and Guardia Civil to assist affected areas.

Meanwhile, Minister Ángel Víctor Torres expressed solidarity with those impacted by the storm, urging citizens to follow safety guidelines to prevent harm.

The crisis committee will remain active until the storm subsides, with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez set to lead upon his return from India.
