Spain's Housing Crisis Sparks Protests

Thousands of people across Spain took to the streets to protest the country’s worsening housing crisis.

Organized by tenant unions, demonstrations were held in 39 cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia.

Protesters demanded lower rents, indefinite contracts, and government action to reclaim vacant and tourist properties.

In Madrid, over 100,000 participants, according to organizers, marched against what they called a "parasitic system" that exploits wages and futures.

In Barcelona, activists criticized the government for failing to curb soaring prices and speculative practices.

Meanwhile, Valencia residents highlighted the impact of investment funds and tourist rentals on housing shortages.

The protests reflect growing frustration as housing costs continue to rise, leaving many unable to afford homes.
