Spain's Pensions to Rise by 2.8% in 2025

Published: 2024-11-28

In 2025, pensions in Spain are set to increase by 2.8%, aligning with the average inflation rate over the past year.

This adjustment, confirmed by the government, aims to ensure that pensioners maintain their purchasing power amidst rising costs of living.

The increase will benefit over 11 million pensioners, with the average pension rising by approximately 600 euros annually.

The maximum pension will see a significant rise, reaching over 3,267 euros per month, a historic high for the Spanish social security system.

This change is part of a broader reform initiated by former minister José Luis Escrivá, designed to adjust pensions in line with inflation and ensure financial sustainability.

The reform also includes measures to gradually increase the retirement age and adjust contribution bases, reflecting ongoing efforts to adapt the pension system to demographic and economic challenges.
