In a tragic turn of events, the body of a 36-year-old Spanish tourist, Eric Soler, has been found in a river in Pokhara, Nepal.
Soler, a resident of Berga, was on a hiking trip with his partner, Mercè Molas, 31, from Sant Feliu Sasserra, when they went missing.
The couple had last communicated with their families over two days ago, sending text messages and photos from their trek in the Annapurna region.
Local authorities discovered Soler's body along with the couple's backpacks, passports, and mobile phones near the Bhurungdi River.
The search for Molas continues, with Nepalese police and rescue teams actively involved.
The Spanish Embassy in New Delhi is coordinating with local authorities and keeping the families informed.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of trekking routes in the area, prompting calls for increased safety measures.
