In the wake of a devastating weather event that claimed over 218 lives, Valencian President Carlos Mazón has initiated a significant government reshuffle to address mounting criticism.
The crisis, sparked by the mishandling of emergency alerts during the disaster, led to the dismissal of Salomé Pradas, the former head of Emergencies and Justice.
Pradas was criticized for not utilizing an available alert system to warn the public.
In response, Mazón has appointed Nuria Martínez Sanchís and Juan Carlos Valderrama to lead Justice and Emergencies, respectively.
This reshuffle is part of Mazón's broader strategy to stabilize his administration and focus on the region's reconstruction, with a budget of 200 million euros allocated for recovery efforts.
The changes are seen as crucial for Mazón's political survival and future ambitions.
