ANC Protest in Barcelona Falls Short of Expectations

The Catalan National Assembly (ANC) organized a protest in Barcelona on Saturday, drawing only 1,500 participants according to city officials.

The demonstration, led by ANC president Lluís Llach, aimed to demand the application of the Amnesty Law to all pro-independence leaders, particularly former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont.

Protesters marched from Plaza Urquinaona to the Generalitat Palace, chanting slogans against Spanish judges and calling for independence.

The event also saw criticism of potential negotiations between ERC and the Socialists for the investiture of Salvador Illa as president of Catalonia.

Despite the low turnout, the protest highlighted ongoing tensions in Catalan politics and dissatisfaction with the partial application of the Amnesty Law.
