Spain is bracing for a sudden cold snap this week as a mass of polar air sweeps in from the north, causing temperatures to plummet.

The chill will bring rain and the first snowfalls of the season to the Pyrenees, with potential frosts in higher areas.

The cold front, expected between Wednesday and Friday, will see temperatures drop below the seasonal average across much of the country.

The northern regions will experience persistent rain due to a DANA (Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos), while the rest of the country will see occasional showers.

Despite the cold, the southwest will maintain normal temperatures.

Winds will be strong in areas like Ampurdán and the Ebro Valley, adding to the wintry feel.
