Winter's Last Chill Hits Hard

This weekend marks an unusually cold end to winter across much of Spain, with temperatures plunging 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal norms.

Snow is expected at altitudes as low as 700 meters, blanketing not just mountain regions but also central plateaus.

Nighttime frosts will grip northern and central areas, with cities like Teruel and Cuenca seeing lows of -5°C to -6°C.

Daytime highs will struggle to reach 10°C in many regions.

Rain and snow showers will scatter across the country, with heavier precipitation in southern Andalusia and parts of the Mediterranean coast.

The cold snap will ease next week as milder Atlantic storms bring rising temperatures and widespread rain.

The first of these, named Storm Laurence, is set to arrive Monday, gradually lifting snow levels and bringing a more temperate climate.
