Elisenda Alamany, the newly elected Secretary General of Esquerra Republicana (ERC), has called for unity within the party following a divisive internal election.
Alamany, who secured 52% of the vote, emphasized the need for ERC to "make itself respected" in negotiations with the Socialist Party (PSOE) and the Catalan government.
She criticized Catalan President Salvador Illa for failing to fulfill key agreements, including debt relief and security reforms.
Alamany also pledged to rebuild the party by engaging with all members and addressing internal divisions.
Her leadership aims to strengthen ERC's position ahead of the 2027 municipal elections and ensure accountability in political agreements.
