Former Spanish Minister José Luis Ábalos is under investigation by the Supreme Court for his alleged involvement in a corruption scheme led by businessman Víctor de Aldama.
This investigation, known as Operation Delorme, began after the arrest of Ábalos' former assistant, Koldo García, by the Guardia Civil in February.
García was accused of receiving kickbacks from mask purchases during the pandemic.
Ábalos, who served as Minister of Transport under Pedro Sánchez and was a key figure in the PSOE from 2017 to 2021, has since been distanced from the party.
Despite his past contributions to reducing youth unemployment, particularly among women, Ábalos now finds himself isolated as the party shields other members under investigation.
