In a recent gathering at the Duques de Pastrana Palace in Madrid, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of Spain's Popular Party (PP), urged regional leaders to unite in advocating for a new multilateral funding model.
This call comes amid tensions over a bilateral agreement between the Spanish government and Catalonia, which Feijóo criticized as unfair.
The PP leaders agreed on a document emphasizing solidarity and equality among Spanish regions, rejecting any separate financial arrangements for Catalonia.
Feijóo stressed the importance of a collective approach, acknowledging the diverse needs of different territories.
Despite internal differences, the PP aims to present a united front in negotiations with the government, seeking an immediate release of 18 billion euros from the Next Generation EU funds to support regional budgets.
