Published: 2024-10-03

The sixth edition of the Foro La Toja-Vínculo Atlántico has commenced in O Grove, Pontevedra, with King Felipe VI inaugurating the event.

This year, the forum honors Josep Borrell, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, with its annual award.

The forum features prominent speakers, including former Spanish Prime Ministers Mariano Rajoy and Felipe González, and Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González.

In his opening speech, King Felipe VI emphasized the EU's crucial role in addressing global disorder, highlighting challenges such as security, economic diversification, and energy transition.

The forum also focuses on pressing issues like the Middle East situation and immigration.

Josep Borrell supported Israel's right to self-defense but criticized its actions in Gaza and Lebanon.

The event continues with discussions on competitiveness and governance within the EU framework.
