The legal battle involving Begoña Gómez, wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, has taken a new turn.
Judge Juan Carlos Peinado must now decide whether to admit a complaint filed by the political party Vox, accusing Gómez of influence peddling.
The case centers on alleged irregularities in the development of a software program linked to a university chair she directed.
Previously, another judge dismissed the case, citing a lack of evidence.
However, the Madrid Provincial Court has ruled that Peinado, already investigating related claims, should review the matter.
Vox alleges Gómez used her position to secure public funding for the project, a claim she denies.
The decision could lead to further scrutiny of her role in the software's creation.
